B&R presents powerful Edge Controller
A single device to collect, evaluate and send data to the cloud – this is now possible with the Edge Controller from B&R. The powerful industrial PC can even be used for big data analysis and machine learning, while simultaneously serving as a full-fledged industrial controller.
B&R's Edge Controller is based on the rugged Automation PC 910, the high-performance variant of which is equipped with an Intel XEON processor that is capable of handling labor-intensive tasks such as machine learning. The Edge Controller runs on a commercial Linux variant with guaranteed long-term support. Cloud transmission takes place via MQTT.
Full-fledged industrial controller
B&R Hypervisor enables a real-time operating system to run simultaneously on the Edge Controller. This turns the peripheral device into a full-fledged industrial controller with cycle times in the sub-millisecond range. An unlimited number of I/O modules or controllers can be connected via the POWERLINK Industrial Ethernet protocol, OPC UA or other fieldbus systems. In the future, this will also be possible with OPC UA TSN.
