On the safe side with the IQ-R

Mitsubishi MELSEC iQ-R PLC now offers an innovative safety option which provides the performance and integrity of a separate safety PLC, but without the extra cabinet space. The iQ-R combines responsiveness and continuity with high process availability and reliability and is ideal for the most critical to support applications - in addition to conventional process control.

To deliver safe and robust machines in applications with low to high risk, machine builders and manufacturers have controls that can meet specific safety requirements. The latest MELSEC iQ-R series PLC meets these needs by providing a flexible, modular to provide an all-in-one solution for process and safety control.

In addition to performing control tasks, the PLC can combined safety and process safety functions. This offers the ability to create applications that comply with ISO 13849-1 PL e- and IEC 61508 SIL 3 standards, allowing users to rely on both the performance as well as process integrity.

The combination of process and safety control in one unit helps machine builders, integrators, process and production companies to take advantage of this complete and scalable operating system. This is, in part, due to optimize equipment footprint, reduce wiring needs and reduce investment costs. The complete control program is programmed with using a single, intuitive platform, GX Works3. This makes it possible to create and execute integrated process and safety programs through a single CPU module, saving the time and cost of setting up two individual operating systems are significantly reduced.
