Safe
and precise support for people in production
The new
Mitsubishi Electric's collaborative robot, the MELFA ASSISTA, has been developed
to work together with human operators without the need for safety screens,
while meeting new requirements for adequate distance between employees
at production sites. The cobot offers maximum safety and durability
combined with ease of use and programming.
The cobot
meets the needs of both standard industrial and environmentally sensitive
applications - for example, it can be supplied with NSF certification
H1 grease (National Sanitation Foundation guidelines) for applications in
for example the food and beverage sector. It can be complex and
perform delicate assembly tasks, hold precise work or perform repetitive
pick-and-place operations with the highest levels of consistency and
reliability, while responding flexibly to rapidly changing business
environments and social needs. Examples of applications include
collaborate with human operators on assembly tasks in the automotive industry or
carrying out packaging operations on production lines.
The set up
of the cobot is simplified using direct learning functionality
where the user holds the arm and moves it to any desired position
moves; the position is then saved by pressing a button on the
keyboard that is built into the cobot arm. The process is both
time-saving and intuitive for operators. This complements the
visual programming software used for more complex operations -
The RT Visualbox package provides both drag and drop motion features as well as
individual adjustments to each movement. This means that costs for additional
robot programming can be saved because operators can configure the settings
can change without specialized robotics knowledge.
The MELFA
ASSISTA cobot has an exceptionally high repeatability of ± 0.03 mm at
a nominal load capacity of 5 kg and a reach of 910 mm. It makes a
higher product quality possible, reducing the time required for
quality control is reduced accordingly, resulting in higher
general quality standards are guaranteed. This extends the range of
possible applications including Life Sciences, precision assembly,
high-quality packaging or component transfer processes.
Another
The advantage of the MELFA ASSISTA is the ability to switch between the
cooperation mode - where it operates at the slower speeds typically associated with
for a cobot - and a higher speed mode for use in a more
industrial 'cooperative production' environment. This ensures maximum
application flexibility and delivers the best possible return on investment.
The new
cobot meets all relevant safety requirements as defined under ISO
10218-1 and ISO/TS 15066. Fault diagnosis and operational status are also
shown by a 6-color LED ring that wraps around the robot's forearm
mounted and which is always visible.
